The table below is an alphabetical listing of common granites showing the typical "group" identification (A, B, C, D and E). This is by no means a comprehensive listing, and many stones go by several different names, but is useful to determine where the stone you have fallen in love with falls in price relative to other stones.

Stone suppliers generally do not use a group (or grade, or level) classification as this has been constructed to provide price range guidelines for consumers. Some fabricators also use a numeric scale (1,2,3,4,5, or I, II, III,IV, V) but these all mean the same thing. An "A" or "1" or "I" is least expensive on the price scale while an "E" or "5" or "V" is the most expensive (meaning it is a rare stone ... not that it is of any better quality!). Finally, some stones drop in price or rise in price due to supply and demand and can drift into another price group. So use the group identifiers below only as a guideline, and contact us for the latest pricing on any stone.
